An Egyptian Director of Photography and Lighting Director recognized for his extensive contributions to Egyptian television drama and cinema — known across a decades-long career for his expertise in visual storytelling, lighting design, and cinematography.

In addition to his professional work in the industry, Assar served as a cinematography instructor at the Higher Institute of Cinema in Egypt, helping to train and mentor new generations of filmmakers and cinematographers.

Among the notable productions associated with his career are Qadiyat Ra'y Aam (A Public Opinion Case), Qalb Mayet (Dead Heart), Ightiyal Shams (The Assassination of Shams), Bara El Donia (Outside the World), Malek Rouhy (Owner of My Soul), and Ma Tkhafoush (Don't Be Afraid).

Mohamed Assar is also part of a distinguished artistic family — father of acclaimed cinematographer Hussein Assar, whose work has received widespread recognition in recent years. Through both his artistic achievements and academic contributions, he remains a respected figure in the history of Egyptian cinematography.
